John "JB" Beckwith

John hails from Kent, Ohio. The northern border of his family's farm is the Cuyahoga River known to the Indians as "Crooked River." His love of waterfowl hunting started here when he harvested his first duck, a drake woodie over 35 years ago. John has been involved professionally in agriculture for the past twenty years. He held sales territories in the waterfowl rich states of Michigan and Illinois prior to his moving back to his home state of Ohio. During his time in Illinois, John honed his skills on all of the aspects of successful waterfowl hunting and guiding. Following his opportunity to guide for a couple of clubs in Ilinois, John decided to venture out on his own. Upon moving back to northeast Ohio, John founded his first guide service which had a strong following due to his ability to consistently put clients on birds.  John lives on his family farm with his wife of 22 years and his five sons.

Brian Laux

Brian started his pursuit of waterfowl hunting over ten years ago following an introduction to the sport by a good friend.  In the short time that he has been chasing ducks and geese, Brian has built a solid reputation for himself. He found that the most exciting aspect of the hunt was being able to call to the birds and have them react to his calling. Brian started to enter competitive calling contests and found immediate success. He has won many contests as both an individual as well as several at team calling events. He is a three time and current defending Ohio State Goose Calling Champion. His calling abilities coupled with his easy going style has made Brian a very popular and requested guide. Brian, along with his wife and two children live near the northern end of the Crooked River. Along with his work at Crooked River, Brian also serves as the Team Manager for JBC Outdoors.

Craig "SOB" Galloway

Craig Galloway was born and raised in the Scioto River Valley of southern Ohio. He grew up hunting whitetail, turkey, wood ducks, mallards, and geese in the river bottoms and woodland hills across the southern portion of the state. He was introduced to the outdoors by both his grandfather and father. He and his grandfather hunted whitetail deer and turkey together in the fall and in the spring and summer he fished Northern Ohio, Canada, and Michigan with his father. Those times were the foundation for what would become a future habit for Craig: spending time afield with family and friends. While times and hunting tactics have changed over the course of his hunting career, he still hunts and travels to these same areas year in and year out chasing ducks, deer, turkeys, and geese from season start to finish.  “For me, the ultimate thrill is when you can fool wild game by communicating to them in their own language."

Jeff House

Jeff has been pursuing waterfowl for over 20 years. Until the last 7 years, Jeff’s waterfowl hunting consisted mainly of hunting ducks over water. Goose hunting for Jeff was not very frequent and only consisted of booking hunts in Southern Illinois with several guide services around Horseshoe Lake, Crab Orchard Lake, and Rend Lake. Jeff was always impressed with the calling ability of the various guides he was hunting with and this was what motivated him to learn how to operate the short reed goose call. In 2003 Jeff entered his very first goose calling contest finishing 31st out of 51 callers. Since that time Jeff has worked very hard to become a more proficient caller as he believes that not only has it helped him on the contest trail, it’s also helped him in the field where it counts the most. You can see Jeff throughout the year at several shows, festivals, and seminars share his experiences.  Jeff also donates his time by working at numerous Ducks Unlimited events throughout the year as he strongly believes that without their efforts duck in goose hunting would one day become a thing of the past.

Bret Ayers

Growing up mere miles from Grand Lake St. Marys, one of the largest man made lakes in the United States, Bret developed his obsession for waterfowling.  As a youngster, his dad Charlie made sure to bring Bret along on every hunt from mallards on the lake to the surrounding fields for Giant Canadas.  Now as a father, Bret takes his daughters along on hunts as they share in his passion for hunting.  Bret feels it is very important to the future of this sport and for the future of our wetlands to get the youth involved in anyway possible.  The unique language of waterfowl, in particular the Canada goose, fueled Bret’s desire to replicate their sound.  Bret has had the privilege of working for and training under a renown champion, Fred Zink.

Some of Bret’s accomplishments are; winning the 2002 & 2004 Ohio State Goose Calling Championship, the 2002 & 2004 Buckeye Classic Championship, the 2004 West Kentucky Open 2-Man Championship, 2004 Ohio State Goose 2-Man Championship, 1st Runner-up 2002 2-Man World Goose Calling Championship, as well as numerous Top 5 finishes.

In the spring of 2008 Bret joined forces with friends Jeff House and Craig Galloway to form the company JBC Outdoors.  Their goal was to design and developed custom duck and goose calls to meet the need of individuals with the desire to succeed in the field or on the stage.

Along with JBC Outdoors Bret is active within Hard Core Decoys and Long Leaf Camo.Bret currently resides in Coldwater, Ohio with his wife Kim and their three children Emma 6, Paige 4, and Mason 2.
